Fun at Keeneland - Lexington, KY

Horse racing and all things equine are huge in Kentucky, as Rachel is quickly learning. Here she is with some of her college buds enjoying a Saturday at the track. I think she made 3 dollars! She says it is beautiful and so much fun. Can't wait to visit the next time we make our way back to UK.

UK Orientation - Go BIG BLUE!

I am officially a University of Kentucky wildcat fan after spending two jam-packed days on campus getting oriented for my youngest's upcoming freshman year.

Everyone was so friendly and accommodating - great food and lots of free stuff. There is so much construction going on around campus, but the sound of hammering and bulldozers only adds to the excitement in knowing that a gorgeous new student center is being created and, of course, more state of the art dorms that look more like 4 star hotels.

We are thrilled that Rachel is getting the opportunity to attend this school. There is much to look forward to, including great basketball, awesome cuisine (steak and beer cheese nachos), and the Kentucky Derby. It's a very different world from Atlanta, but one full of new adventures. Looking forward to the next four years!

Fourth of July Birthday!

Every 4th of July at the Friday house is a super big day because it is Rachel's birthday. Born in the UK on July 4th makes her big day extra special. This year she is 18 and moving on to the University of Kentucky. GO Big blue!

College Road Trip, part 2 - Kentucky

I've never had the pleasure of visiting the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Ky, until today. Wow, what a beautiful campus!  All of us were very impressed! We had a great time touring this part of the country. Will have to see where she ends up!
