An Evening with Adam Wakefield & Jenny Leigh

This past Friday night, Bill and I had the honor of hosting a Scenes Media event in our home--an evening with the amazing Adam Wakefield of the Voice and his girlfriend, Jenny Leigh (seen on the show, Nashville).

Adam was first runner up in season 10 of the Voice and is making great headway in the Nashville music scene, having secured a recording contract this past spring. Because Scenes featured him on one of their Live Sessions (see link https://scenesmedia.com/2018/08/latest-from-adam-wakefield-good-morning-sunday/), he and Jenny decided to drop in and sing a few songs for us to show their appreciation.

It isn't often that Bill and I have country music stars swing by the house for a night of entertainment, so what was probably a casual evening for Adam and Jenny turned out to be a major party plan for the Fridays. We tidied up and decorated, made our famous buffalo chicken dip (a big hit with Adam), and catered a nice spread. We invited friends and business colleagues and filled the house with an excited audience, some who were slightly starstruck.

I'll confess that I have only watched the Voice a few times, so I was not one of those who was celebrity stunned. Adam and Jenny are down-to-earth, unassuming people--not the least bit affected by their success in the entertainment world.  They were very comfortable in our home and very gracious to our guests. It is clear that their passion for music extends to their fan base. We all got lots of hugs and tons of pictures.

Now to the performance. There, they sat on my grandmother's old antique sofa in our living room singing the most amazing songs with just an acoustic guitar. All of us were totally blown away at how great the music was. Adam's voice is like no other--strong and clear with a slight twang that reminded me of a younger Willie Nelson--but better.

Jenny has a beautiful voice, as well, and does a supurb job of singing harmony; they work together beautifully like a well oiled machine. I loved Adam's song, Good Morning Sunday, as well as a gorgeous song written and performed by Jenny, Old Oak Tree. That one brought tears to my eyes.

The next night, the Friday clan ventured to Eddie's Attic and got to see Adam and Jenny perform before a live, paying audience. They were great and received several standing ovations.

The headliner was Nick Hagelin,  Adam's friend from the Voice, who was amazing as well! A ballet dancer/singer/songwriter who is just adorable and so much fun to watch. He and Adam perfomed a song together, Hourglass, with Adam on the keyboards. The talent was beyond excellent.

I am now a huge Adam Wakefield fan with a renewed interest in country music. I dug around the Internet and found "Blame It on Me," which is now one of my fav country songs.

We are all grateful for this wonderful opportunity and look forward to hearing more great music from this duo over the coming years.

I wish them all the best in their careers. May God receive all the glory!

Wedding Shower! Swan Coach House💍

Our bridal shower for Anna at the iconic Swan Coach House in Atlanta was absolutely wonderful!

Since 1967, the coach house has been an old Buckhead stand-by luncheon venue for the daughters of us Southern belles who are embarking on married life. See this link for pictures and more details:

We had family come from Michigan and North Carolina and saw long-time friends who have played an instrumental part in Anna's life. Games, gifts, cupcakes, roses, chicken salad, and mimosas rounded out the day. It was a time to remember!

Now, on to September 14th!
